How often do we change who we are to be accepted?
In this engaging and personal talk, Shivani explores the pressure many of us feel to fit in, from childhood and family expectations to workplace culture and professional norms. Drawing on her own experiences as a British South Asian woman, as well as insights from her book Unlocking Authenticity, she explores why we hide or edit parts of ourselves and the impact this can have on confidence, mental health, relationships and performance.
Through stories, reflection and practical tools, participants are encouraged to recognise the difference between healthy adaptation and suppressing who they are, and to consider what they can do to create greater belonging for themselves and for others.
