What does it actually feel like to navigate work, public life and everyday relationships as a non-binary person?
In this honest and personal session, Charl will share their lived experience of being non-binary, drawing on their work as an analyst at a leading IT and business consulting company, their role on its UK LGBTQ+ committee, and their position on the Council of the Football Association of Wales.
Charl will explore what “coming out” can mean when your identity doesn’t always fit neatly into the categories people expect, and what it is like to be a visible queer advocate at a time when gender identity is under increasing public, social and legal scrutiny.
They’ll reflect on navigating the corporate world, public spaces and everyday conversations, as well as some of the differences they have observed between attitudes towards gender identity in the UK and elsewhere in Europe.
Most importantly, this session is about understanding rather than terminology. Charl will share the small, practical things that can make an enormous difference to a non-binary person - whether you are a colleague, manager, parent, friend or simply someone who wants to be a better ally.
Expect a candid, thoughtful and human conversation about identity, belonging, visibility and what genuine allyship looks like in everyday life.
